“We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Most of all we forget the force that helps us in our journey; God. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling , we should not over look.” The long awaited appreciation night has finally been made a reality.
The day was Friday, 19th December 2014 at the St. Theresa Parish, with theme,” Bless the Lord, O my soul” The night was set aside to enable parishioners give thanks to God for his numerous blessings throughout the year through praise, worship and testimonies. In attendance was the ever- vibrant Harp of David music ministry who sang melodious and danceable tunes.
In his submission, the speaker, Rev. Fr. Ebenezer Hanson , said we are still alive not because of any good thing we did. Most of us if not all of us, even before the first day of the new year , we would have broken all our resolutions. Instead of making resolutions that we would break, we should rather live our lives blamelessly, listen to our heart and allow our souls to praise God. *1 Samuel 7:12 *12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”*Exodus 14:13-14*13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”Like the Israelites, we should put all our trust in God and offer him praise no matter how big our problems may seem.
He also gave a testimony of the presence of God in the Catholic church of a class mate of his who was blessed this year with twins after a long time of childlessness. Fr. Hanson encouraged us to record the goodness of God in in a lives in a diary, so that next year by this time we would have so much testimonies.
